MEND

MEND premiered at Arts On Site in New York City on June 29, 2025, as an excerpt of the larger work False Summits created by Khala Brannigan.

Through movement, text, and dialogue, MEND explores the rupture-to-repair process in intimate relationships, scored by collaborators Midwife, Barrett Tuttobene and collaboration with fellow movement artist Nick Daley. The piece reflects on themes of agency, surrender, and transformation as two people navigate emotional healing. While grounded in personal dynamics, MEND also mirrors the collective experience of confronting environmental crisis and our evolving relationship with climate change. It offers a layered exploration of repair—both interpersonal and ecological—inviting audiences into a space of vulnerability, reflection, and resilience. The larger work, False Summits, explores the frustration of reaching a seemingly final peak, only to discover it’s a false summit, symbolizing the urgency and grief surrounding our ongoing climate crisis and the struggle for true resolution.
